Here are some facts and figures I have collected.
- SPECTRE is in many Bond films, but the acronym is only explained in
Dr No.
- SPECTRE stands for Special Executive for Counter Intelligence Terrorism Revenge Extortion.
- The Walther PPK is 7.65mm.
- Bond uses a Walther PPK in all the films from Dr No, up to and including Tomorrow Never Dies. In Tomorrow Never Dies he starts to use the newer Walther P99.
- Blofeld is in four Bond films, each time played by a different actor.
- Jaws is the only henchman to be in more than one Bond film, they are The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker.
- Q (Desmond Llewellyn) was in all the bond films from From Russia With Love, to The World is Not Enough, with the exception of Live and Let Die
- Q's Real name is "Major Geoffry Boothroyd", as said by M in From Russia With Love and Agent XXX in The Spy Who Loved Me.
- Major Boothroyd, is in Dr No, but is not played by Desmond Llewellyn
- Q tried to teach Bond only two things:
- Never let them see you bleed.
- Always have an escape plan.
- In You Only Live Twice Henderson (Bond's contact in Japan) hands bond a drink and says "Stirred not shaken - that's right" Blatently not!
- Bond has a First in Oriental Languages from Cambridge
- The screenplay for You Only Live Twice, was written by childrens novelist Roald Dahl
- In You Only Live Twice, the set for Blofeld's operation base cost £400,000 (1967)
- Bond is in the Playboy club, his card is seen in his wallet in Diamonds Are Forever
- The car stunt in The Man With The Golden Gun, which has Bond's car flying off a ramp, turning 360 degrees in the air and landing on an opposite ramp right side up, happened perfectly first time.
- The golden gun in The Man With The Golden Gun, is made from a cigarette case, a lighter, and a fountain pen, all gold of course.
- There are over 435 St Cyrils in Greece. From For Your Eyes Only.
- The Acrostar Jet in was the worlds smallest jet at only 12 foot in length.
- In Octopussy Vijay Amritraj, who plays the charactor Vijay, is actually a world class tennis professional.
- The actor who plays Brad Whitaker (Joe Don Baker) in The Living Daylights also plays Jack Wade CIA in Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies
- Goldeneye was the name of Ian Fleming's house in Jamaica.
- The bungee jump at the start of GoldenEye, was the worlds largest ever bungee jump, and was filmed off the top of a 70-storey high damn in Lacarno, Switzerland.
- The "Handbrake" turn / "powerslide" Bond performs in GoldenEye did actually happen, it is not camera trickery like most people believe. The tank was fitted with the tracks used by the military for training purposes, allowing it to slide gracefully.
- After completing the first draft of Casino Royale, Iam Fleming bought a Gold-plated type writer. This was sold at auction at Christies for £52,500, it was purchase by Pierce Brosnan.
- The Parker pen in Goldeneye retails at £5.95, but was modified at a cost of £4000.
- Bond's watch in Goldeneye usually costs £895 (Omega Seamaster) but was adapted for the role at a cost of £12,000
- The modified belt with concealed wire and piton in Goldeneye cost £4000.
